Hello Baba,
First the person you were concerned about is Patrick Hunt, who has stated he was subject to harassment and physical pain by handcuffs too tight. He has no clue if his girlfriend is OK or if she isn't. I will never understand why some of these police inflict pain on someone obviously harmless. Patrick thanks you for your caring and concern.
Last night we, in "F" housing unit were called outside,
in the cold for 6 to 8 minutes then were transferred in groups of
5 or to holding cells, while guards were looking for drugs I think.
After returning to our rooms our beds and personal property were a
mess. I thought it was our constitutional right to be present during
a shakedown.
In addition the walls should be cleaned to alleviate dust. There has been a denial of necessities for personal hygiene: meals are served on top of garbage can with a bath towel on top. We have under clothing exchange twice a week, sheet exchange once a week but other prisoners and I have had only on me blanket exchange since Sept. Others have had none since their arrival. We have no proper receptacles to dispose of cigarette stubs and ashes as stated in the book of rules and regulations.
A Mr. Joseph Olivereo has two witnesses that he was physically abused during arrest. Also periodically I have see prisoners treated rudely by some of the guards with no reason other than their personal problems. I don't think it to be ethical for them to bring their emotional ups and downs to work. Especially to a job of this nature.
Baba: the county has just been awarded a $15,000 grant to aid in the
alleviation of drug sales in this city and county. Why don't they
use part of it to improve conditions for those incarcerated.
Thank you for your gift of healing. I've improved considerably since
the last meeting. It's nice to be rid of my prosthesis. Thank you.
